The Meade LXD 75 5" refractor telescope is designed both for the beginning astronomer as well as the intermediate astronomer. The telescope comes with a tracking motor on both axes that will allow you to track any object. The optics is made from premium made BAK-7 glass that is multi-coated to maximize light transmission. The heavy German equatorial mount with heavy-duty shaft and casting will deliver precision tracking and slewing, just what you need for astrophotography.

The telescope comes with a GO-TO system, this implies that you just tell the hand computer the galaxy, nebulae, star or planet you would like to see and the telescope does the rest. The telescope will move and stop moving when the object in centred in your eyepiece.

AutoStar Controller

The AutoStar controller helps you quickly find and GO-TO more than 30,000 objects in the night sky. View planets, stars, galaxies, nebulae, and comets - all at the push of a button. AutoStar is pre-programmed with several guided tours, including the popular Tonight's Best. To take it, just input date, time and location. Then let AutoStar take you on a guided tour of the best objects that particular night. The AutoStar controller can be updated, too. Log on to Meade.com to download software upgrades, guided tours, and timely objects like comets - free. Keep your AutoStar up-to-date and your telescope will grow with you for years to come.

What makes this telescope stand out?

  1. Meade has built in High-Precision Pointing (HHP). The HPP function puts objects in the centre of the field of view, allowing for quick easy location of deep sky objects at the farthest limits of the telescope's capability.
  2. Periodic error correction corrects periodic errors on the RA axis over the course of one or more training periods, minimizing guiding corrections during long exposure photography.
  3. Nine speeds drive controls; both the RA control as well as the DA control can be adjusted. From a rapid slew speed of 128x to 1x. Tracking and slewing is controlled from the AutoStar controller.
  4. Three-star alignment ensures precise alignment and eliminates the need for a complicated optical/mechanical alignment process.
  5. Variable-height field tripod with spreader bar brace provides stability and vibration damping required for visual observation and astrophotography; illuminated polar alignment viewfinder offers quick, precise polar alignment.
  6. Powered with eight D-size batteries or with optional car cigarette lighter and AC wall adapters.
